Description
Scarce early original vintage official photograph shows a group of officers with the Prince of Wales.A rather young-looking Prince of Wales poses for the photographer, most likely John Warwick Brooke, along with a group of officers. He is sitting in the middle of the front row, with a cigarette in his right hand.
Whilst this particular photograph has been posed, Warwick Brooke was known for his many candid shots of visiting dignitaries and members of royalty.
Throughout World War I Edward, Prince of Wales, served as an army staff officer in the Grenadier Guards. Whilst the Prince was determined to serve at the Front, continual efforts were made to keep him away from the front line.
Photographs of royal visits to the Western Front. Royal visits were seen as an important way of boosting morale.
Photograph measures 7 x 9 inches and is in very good condition with light surface wear (see scans). There are no bends, tears, or creases and the image is very sharp and has strong tones with good contrast and clarity.
