The Colorado Springs Truck Crash

Owner of popular Moonshadows restaurant in Malibu, and son, killed in fiery crash at Cal Poly crash scene.

The Associated Press reports that the crash scene was “covered with debris and bodies,” with a number of people transported to local hospitals.

The driver of the truck involved in the crash was identified by the California Highway Patrol as an 18-year-old male from Colorado Springs.

There were 12 other people in the vehicle along with the driver of the truck, identified by the CHP as 30-year-old Steven Paulson, from Colorado Springs. A 17-year-old passenger and 3 children, 5 and 11 years old, died in the crash. A 16-year-old boy from Colorado Springs was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Three other people were transported to a local hospital with injuries.

Firefighters said the driver of the truck apparently lost control of the vehicle as it was entering the overpass, the crash is believed to have occurred around 10:45 a.m.
