Brazil prepares for another month of political battle as run-off looms
(NEW YORK) — Iran could soon become the largest country to have a presidential election in the world, if the upcoming presidential election in Iran is anything to go by.
The Guardian newspaper on Sunday published a letter allegedly signed by the Iranian president and made public by pro-government media, in which the document declares Iran to be ready to face another round of “political battle” if the incumbent turns out to be defeated at the ballot box.
“When in the near future we hear about the death of the incumbent and his son [Mahmoud Ahmadinejad], we will be the second country in the world to hold the presidential elections,” the letter reads, according to The Guardian’s publication of an alleged letter sent to the British parliament’s foreign affairs committee.
