SAN JOSE — The former Santa Clara County sheriff who oversaw the investigation of his predecessor’s conduct after he was arrested in a bribery and money laundering scheme in the 1970s, has been convicted of taking kickbacks to a city and private business in cities.
Former Sheriff Miguel Munoz Marin was convicted Wednesday in a San Jose bankruptcy court of taking kickbacks to help the city of Rohnert Park pay for a bridge, and to a company owned by a judge.
